Headcanon: Noble and Humans

servavi:

Because nobles have a strict moral code about protecting humans, it can be misinterpreted. They do not see humans as equals, rather in a good comparison, they see humans as we see pets. We love our pets because they can provide company and happiness. We love see them interact with others of their own kind, and because they are weaker than us, we protect and guide them. This is how nobles view humanity. In other words, they discriminate against humans because they do not see them as equal beings. (This is just a generalization of nobles obviously every person is differnt but I’m talking about the species as a whole not individuals).

There is plenty of evidence of this throughout the manga, but the best is in the flash backs with Frankenstein. He had a hard time living in Lukedonia because he was looked down upon and hated by most of the nobles there. Now, while his personality certainly had something to do with that, I believe it stems from the view nobles have on humans. It’s like a royal proud king being forced to live with peasants, it makes them uncomfortable and they feel the lower beings have no right in their land. As stated humans do not live in Lukdonia not because of safety issues, but because of how they are viewed. The nobles referred to Raizel as “keeping a human.” Like the noble owned him, and could do whatever he wanted to Frankenstein. This is prejudice against humans, but also more. It stems from the isolation the head nobles have from humans. Because they do not interact with humans, they are desensitized to the fact that they are sentient beings with feelings and lives.

Frankenstein shook up their world because it forced them to face the fact that humans are people, not pets, and with Frankenstein having power it felt not only unnatural but terrifying.

Whenever the peasants gain power, a king grows concerned, and the same can be seen from the nobles. They wanted to kill or banish Frankenstein after they found out just how powerful he was. If it wasn’t for Raizel, there is no doubt in my mind Frankenstein would have been killed.

Frankenstein brought a change to the nobles very view on humans.
They realized that humans were not longer obedient pets that they could control, but were gaining power to defend themselves and to rule over themselves. This lead them to a choice, continue to have influence over them through force, or let them go. Thankfully the lord let them go, which ultimately lead to their weakening in power and numbers as time continued. Probably, this might have been a small factor in the traitors as well. They wanted to continue influencing the humans, and were afraid of what would happen if the humans were left alone. Not everyone would be happy with their pets running away to live by themselves, especially not when they grow in power.

Now with the age of human modification, most nobles are starting to change their views on humans. While, the discrimination is still heavy in their culture, the younger generation are seeing for themselves that humans are not weak pets anymore.

They are to be respected, and maybe one day the nobles will even see them as equals.
